  • 山溝裡的孩子每天徒步幾個小時走過崎嶇的山路去上學 A child in rural China who must walk hours through rocky, unpaved roads to get to school each day
  • 已經成為危房的教室無法擋風又漏雨 An unsafe classroom that leaks when it rains
  • 四個孩子共用一張課桌，有時連凳子都沒有 A child who must share a rickety desk with 3 other students
  • 五個孩子合看一份讀物 Books that are shared by 5 students at a time
  • 教科書破舊又過時 Out-of-date learning materials that barely cover the basics
  • 孩子們穿著最厚的冬衣，手上長著凍瘡，在沒有暖氣，甚至沒有完整牆壁的教室裡學習. . . Children bundled up in thick jackets, studying with no walls or heating

因為連最基本的學習條件都沒有，窮山溝裡的孩子們還沒有起步，就早已落到了許多同齡孩子的後面。他們根本沒有機會超脫貧困，長大了也沒有能力回饋社會。 Deprived of basic learning conditions, these children are behind others of their age. As a result, the children cannot reach their full potential and ultimately are unable to contribute back to their communities.

從1997到今天，欣欣在中國大陸最需要幫助的窮鄉僻壤 Since 1997, Shin Shin has already:

  • 重建修葺了325所欣欣小學，很多地方每個家庭每天的平均收入不到一美元 Rebuilt 325 schools in areas where the average household income is less than US $1 a day
  • 為超過十二萬孩子提供了新教室，新學校 Provided 120,000 students with new classrooms and clean, safe schools

欣欣相信教育是讓孩子們擺脫貧窮，開創美好未來的最好途徑。Shin Shin believes that quality education is the only way to successfully help the children escape poverty and give them hope for a better future.

欣欣相信每一個孩子都應該有良好的教育和學習環境。「大通給予社區由你決定」的一百萬美金，我們希望可以用來擴展欣欣的圖書、電腦計劃。我們的夢想是讓所有的欣欣孩子都有機會使用電腦和上網。我們相信讓這些在極其艱苦的環境中成長的孩子們有機會接觸到現代的信息科技可以改變他們的一生。我們相信欣欣的關懷會讓他們成長為有知識，有同情心，可以關愛他人的社會棟樑。這個世界也會因此更美好。 Quality education and a positive learning environment are rights every child should have. The 1 million dollars will allow Shin Shin to further extend this vision. In this information age, computer skills and Internet access are critical tools to enhance the quality of education. By giving every child access to computers and the Internet, we also give them access to the rest of the world.

我們的具體計劃是 Our big idea is to:

  • 在五年內幫欣欣的每一所學校都修建電腦室，提供上網（欣欣以往同聯想合作已經在電腦室，上網服務上積累了經驗；還有146所學校仍需電腦，260所學校需要上網服務） Provide every Shin Shin school with computers and broadband Internet access within in the next 5 years (146 schools still need computers and 260 schools need Internet access)
  • 我們希望與中國國內各大學合作，讓大學生幫助傳播欣欣的理念，讓社會上更多人來關愛這些山溝裡孩子的教育問題 Collaborate with local colleges throughout China to get college students involved and spread awareness of Shin Shin’s mission
  • 欣欣也希望讓這些大學生成為傳承欣欣精神的種子，走到鄉下的學校裡，看望欣欣的孩子，教他們電腦知識，做孩子們的榜樣 Teach Shin Shin students how to use the Internet by funding school visit trips for college students to help the children and be the “seeds” to attract others to spread our vision

欣欣計劃用87.6％的資金來購置電腦設備，6.5％來提供上網服務；另外5.9％來贊助大學生下鄉訪問學校。 The $1M will cover $876K of computer equipment, $65K of Internet setup and $59K of school visit expenses.

  • 325學校都有電腦室並且校校上網，每一所學校都不再是山溝裡的一個孤島 325 schools inter-connecteding through the Internet so that no single Shin Shin school is no longer remains an isolated island

  • 十二萬多顆幼小心靈被知識開啟 120,000 pairs of eyes opening up with intrigue as they get more books and computers to learn
  • 成百上千的大學生走到鄉下的孩子們身邊與他們分享夢想和希望 Hundreds of college students visiting Shin Shin schools - sharing hopes with and sparking dreams in under-attended Shin Shin students
  • 十二萬多個孩子在欣欣學校受到教育因此改變人生 120,000 children rising up and achieving better lives through the education at Shin Shin schools
  • 十二萬多個孩子成長為可以關愛他人的棟樑 120,000 successful children who grow up to be productive adults and positive members of society
  • 十二萬多個有知識、有同情心的成人投身家鄉、社會，一起打造更美好的未來 120,000 responsible adults returning to their hometowns to contribute back to their communities and continue to invest in education

【2010年1月23日】谢谢您鼎力投票支持欣欣教育基金会，虽然在第二轮“大通给予社区由你决定”活动中我们没有能够进入前六名获得奖金，但是我们学习到了许多宝贵的 经验，也赢得许多珍贵的友谊。 On behalf of more than 120,000 children in the remote and impoverished rural areas in China, we are deeply grateful for your outpouring support and encouragement for the Shin Shin Educational Foundation during the Chase Community Giving Challenge. It has been a privilege and great honor for Shin Shin and our volunteers to be in this amazing week-long journey, along with so many other wonderful charity groups. By joining the Facebook community and participating in this contest, Shin Shin has gained invaluable experience and established friendships with so many people and other organizations, which is something we will cherish for many years to come.

我们的梦想是让十二万名以上的欣欣孩子都有机会使用电脑和上网，我们相信让这些在极其 艰苦的环境中成长的孩子们有机会接触到现代的信息科技可以改变他们的一生。我们相信欣 欣与您的关怀会让他们成长为有知识，有同情心，可以关爱他人的社会栋梁，这个世界也会 因此更美好。 Even though we have fallen short in reaching our goal of being one of the top six contestants, our dream of providing computer and Internet access to every child in the 325 Shin Shin schools remains unchanged and undeterred. We firmly believe that giving these children a chance to see and experience the outside world will change their lives, our lives, and the world.

欣欣更相信，只要放一点温心在教育上就能造福许多孩子一生，只要给孩子们一点机会他 们就可能开创美好的将来，一代就会比一代更好。 The children we have been working with have been born into very isolated rural communities and grown up under unimaginable hardships. Give these children an opportunity, and they can strive for a brighter future. Show a little compassion towards education, and many communities will benefit for generations to come. We believe that, with your continued support and encouragement, we will be able to help these children grow into compassionate individuals and productive members of the society, who will go on to contribute back to their communities.
