【Translated from World Journal North America: Community News from Cupertino】 Shin Shin Educational Foundation was established in 1997 by the Bay Area overseas Chinese in 1997, with the mission to help the primary schools in the poverty-stricken remote and mountainous villages of China, through constructing or renovating schools, improving educational software and hardware, and enhancing the education quality, etc., to reach the goal of reducing the disparity in the education quality between urban and rural areas

President Steve Ting said, Shin Shin Educational Foundation has benefited 333 schools in 25 provinces and cities in China with over 4,000 teachers and 130,000 students. In 2012, Shin Shin will continue these endeavors with partners, including the “East meets West” Shin Shin Benefit Concert on March 18 with the Synaptics, Inc, the university outreach programs with Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Jilin University in June and July, the ECTT (English and Computer Teachers Training) programs with Hunan Vocational College of Science and Technology and Gansu University of Political Science in July and August, and the reading rooms and book corners project with Cupertino Rotary Club in September.

Steve Ting said, in order to make “Shin Shin Family of One” to be more “united and prosperous”, more volunteers are needed. If anyone is interested, please fill out the on-line volunteer application form and attend the volunteer orientation training in the morning of the second Saturday of each month.
