欣欣中國興學 扶輪社捐助/ The Rotary Club Supports Shin Shin's Educational Mission in China
【8月10日/Aug 10】 【世界日報 World Journal記者王慶偉庫比蒂諾報導】庫比蒂諾扶輪社社長丁永慶9日與庫市扶輪社 國際服務中心負責人貝克（Cecelia Babkirk）、 佛利蒙高中學區委員魏虹以及庫市扶輪社新聞聯絡郎豪莉，一起拜會欣欣教育基金會，送交4萬5000元捐款，由會長朱偉人及財務長孫 海倫代表接受。丁永慶表示，扶輪社在過去四年與欣欣合作，共捐助近二十萬元，供欣欣在中國偏遠地區建校後的「後續基金」使用， 主要用於教學及圖書館設備。扶輪社2007年捐六萬元，為中國一百所學校購買八萬多冊圖書。丁永慶指出，扶輪社用「相對基金」 來鼓勵參與捐款，扶輪社每年也有二十多位會員到中國探訪，和當地居民交流，實踐扶輪社「促進全球人民之間的瞭解」宗旨， 所以對欣欣的教育捐贈將每年持續下去。貝克指出，庫市扶輪社有「健康、救飢、人道」三大社會服務項目，有些項目籌款需求較大， 但力求在每個項目上每年維持四到六萬元捐款。On August 9th, $45K donations were handed in person to Shin Shin's President, Sandy Chau and CFO Helen Yang by the visitors from the Rotary Club of Cupertino, including Steve Ting, the President of the club, Cecelia Babkirk, the Chair of the International Service Committee, Hung Wei, a board member of the Fremont High School District, and Haoli Lang, the press contact of the club. Steve Ting said, the Rotary Club collaborated with Shin Shin in the past four years and donated nearly $200K to support Shin Shin's follow-up programs after the school constructions in the remote and rural areas of China, focusing on teaching and library facilities. In 2007, $60K donations from the Rotary Club were used to purchase 80,000 books for 100 schools. Steve Ting also pointed out that the club encourages members to donate or participate through matching grants. Every year, more than 20 club members visited China, exchanging with the local residents and practicing their mission "to promote the understanding between the peoples of the world". Hence, the Rotary Club will continue to support Shin Shin's educational programs. Cecelia Babkirk said, the Rotary Club of Cupertino has "Health, Hunger, Humanity" three community service projects, some of which are highly demanding, however, every project would still be approved with $40K to $60K donations annually.
欣欣基金會理事會商討重建修葺災區學校 Shin Shin Board Meeting Focused on Rebuilding the Earthquake Damaged Schools
【7月13日/July 13】以支持中國大陸邊遠地區教育為宗旨的欣欣教育基金會，日前在古柏蒂奴社區中心舉行 了理事會，除了審查過去的工作成效，並定下今後的發展方向，除了以改進教學品質永 無止境之外，並把配合當地政府，把512地震受災小學的重建和整修當作今年的目標之 一。 The Shin Shin Educational Foundation that aims at supporting the education in the rural areas of China held the annual board meeting yesterday in the Cupertino Community Center. 欣欣已籌募九萬餘元援助四川小學重建 90K Donation Raised for Rebuilding Sichuan Schools
【5月23日/May 23】欣欣教育基金會會長朱偉人表示，欣欣在四川省偏遠貧困地區建有廿六所欣欣小學巴中 市、甘孜州、宜賓縣、遂寧市、達州市、南充市有十所學校無法連繫；長寧縣、巴中 市、宜賓市、南充市、筠連縣有六所學校無影響；簡陽市、宜賓市、巴中市有三所學校 校舍輕微損傷；資陽市、達州市兩所學校屋頂出現問題；雅安市、阿壩州、宜賓市四所 學校需要重建；最令人擔心的位於汶川震央的威州鎮增坡欣欣小學的電話打不通，情況 極為嚴重。Mr. Sandy Chau, the president of the Shin Shin Educational Foundation, said that among the 26 schools that Shin Shin built in Sichuan Province, 10 schools (Bazhong City, Ganzi Region, Yibin County, Suining City, Dazhou City, Nanchong City) could not be contacted; 6 schools (Changning County, Bazhong City, Yibin City, Nanchong City, Junlian County) were no affected; 3 schools (Jianyang City, Yibin City, Bazhong City) were slightly damaged; 2 schools (Ziyang City, Dazhou City) have damages in the roof ; 4 schools (Ya'an City, A Ba Region, Yibin City) need to be rebuilt; the most concerned school, located in the epicenter in Wenchuan, has not answered the phone calls, so its situation is extremely serious.
