湖北 Hubei

2001-2007共興建、維修九所欣欣小學。Shin Shin rebuilt and remodeled nine schools in Hubei from 2001 to 2007.

湖北省位於中國的中部，因處於長江中游的洞庭湖北 岸，故稱為湖北，簡稱鄂。湖北現行行政區劃為17個 市州（含三個省直管縣級市和神農架林區），省會武 漢為副省級市。國土總面積18.59萬平方公里，人口六 千多萬。湖北有大小河流1193條，總長度3.5萬公里。 其中長江流入湖北境內1061公里。在長江、漢江的衝 擊平原上，分佈著眾多的大小湖泊，形成"江漢湖泊群 "。故湖北又以"千湖之省"著稱。 Hubei is a central province of China. Its abbreviation is Er. The name of Hubei means "North of the Lake," referring to Hubei's position north of Dongting Lake. Hubei covers an area of 185,900 square kilometers, accounting for 1.94% of the national total, ranking 16th nationwide. The population of Hubei is about 60 million. Hubei is divided into 17 prefecture-level cities. It also includes three directly administered county-level cities and one directly administered county-level forestry area. The Yangtze River and Hanshui River meet at Wuhan City, the provincial capital. Thousands of lakes occupy the landscape, giving Hubei the name of "Province of Lakes".

Han Chinese form the dominant ethnic group in Hubei. A considerable Miao and Tujia population live in the southwestern part of the province, especially in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. In the past, Hubei was home to the powerful state of Chu, a tributary state of the Zhou Dynasty, which was an extension of the Chinese civilization that had emerged some centuries before. It developed its own unique culture.

從本世紀初始，美國欣欣教育 基金會在湖北已捐建九所小學。分佈在潛江、丹江口 、孝感、鍾祥、陽新、鄂州等六個市縣。"欣欣"像雪 中送炭的聖誕老人。校舍瀕危，她給修建寬敞的教學 樓；學生風餐露宿，她給捐建起嶄新的食堂、宿舍。 並還用源源不斷的後續資金，添置電腦、教學設備、 體育用品以及圖書資料，並為落後的鄉村學校無償培 訓教師隊伍。特別感謝捐款人:夏重光先生、方李邦琴 女士、劉懿子女士、袁縉先生。 Shin Shin has helped build and remodel nine schools in six cities (Qianjiang, DanJiangko, Xiaogan, ZhongXiang, Yangxing, Ehzhou) in Hubei. Six of the schools have already installed eleven computers for each school, and further funding has helped the schools purchase student desks, chairs, school equipment, and athletic equipment. The funds also helped the school library obtained hundreds of books. One teacher attended the Shin Shin funded English Teacher Training Program in Hunan this year. Shin Shin has given hope to the poverty-stricken children in this province.
